Bihar Fasal Bima Yojana – Bihar opted out of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in 2018 and instead developed its own scheme for farmers called the Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana (BRFSY). The action aroused concerns because Bihar was governed by the NDA, which was also in power at the federal level, and the PMFBY was one of its most well-known programmes. Because the money was directly deposited to the farmers’ bank accounts, the scheme was described as an assistance rather than an insurance system.

Farmers who have experienced crop losses can file a claim with the government, and the government will compensate them appropriately. According to the government, nearly 3.5 lakh farmers were compensated for a total of Rs. 260.64 crore in 2019.

Benefits of Bihar Fasal Bima Yojana

• Farmers are exempt from paying any premiums because the scheme is meant to provide aid rather than insurance.
• If the farmer’s rate of output falls below 20% of the benchmark, he or she would be paid Rs 7,500 per hectare for a maximum of two hectares.
• If a farmer’s production loss surpasses 20%, he or she would be compensated with Rs. 10,000 per hectare, up to a maximum of two hectares.
• Farmers who have taken out loans from nationalized banks, cooperative banks, and other organizations are not excluded from the scheme, as it also covers borrowers from other agencies.

Application process of Bihar Fasal Bima Yojana is free for farmers. They don’t need to pay a premium or charge for this scheme. 

Bihar Fasal Bima Yojana Application Process

1. To apply online for Bihar Fasal Bima Yojana Scheme, you have to first go to the official website of Agriculture Department for Bihar State Crop Assistance Scheme – www.pacsonline.bih.nic.in.
2. After that, the home page of the website will open in front of you.
3. On the main page, you must select the option to register farmers in the agriculture section by clicking here.
4. After clicking, you will be taken to the Department of Agriculture Bihar new direct benefit transfer website i.e. https://dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in/.
5. Here you will have to choose Bihar Fasal Bima Yojana. 
6. Your new registration page will appear, and you must choose Demographics + One-Time Password from the three options available.
7. After marking, you must write in your Aadhar card information, such as the applicant’s Aadhar number and name.
8. Now select Authentication from the drop-down menu.
9. After that, the applicant’s registration process will be completed.
